Southwestern REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communications Teams) of San Diego County, Inc. was founded in February of 1966 in Imperial Beach. The Team was incorporated as a not-for-profit (501-c3) educational and charity organization by the State of California on April 30, 1969. We are a team of volunteers, which have many different types of communications at our disposal, using a variety of radio systems that enables us to talk from the border of Mexico to Orange County and most of San Diego County. Our mission is to prepare for communications during emergency and disasters. We do this by working community events like such as:
Lakeside and North Park Holiday Parades, Midnight Madness Bike rides, Walk for the Children of the World, Descanso Endurance Horse Ride, Manzanita Endurance Horse Ride, San Diego International Marathon, San Diego Bay Fair Thunder Boat Races, San Diego Grand Prix or then Iron Man in Lake Paris CA.
We assist California Department of Forestry (CDF/ CAL Fire) by doing Red Flags Fire patrols in the backcountry. We assisted CDF/ CAL Fire with radio communications on a fire in 1997. We have helped San Diego Police Department with urban lost person searches and special events. We have trained and/or worked with San Diego County V.O.A.D. (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster) and with the San Diego/Imperial County American Red Cross. Members of our TEAM traveled to North Ridge to assist in earthquake relief.
From all the different types of events we have done throughout our “46+” years of service, we bring a considerable knowledge and experience. Safety through communications for the event is our top priority. |
